The Grand Mosque of Hazrat Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq (RA), constructed with financial support from the Habib Yar Charity Foundation, was formally inaugurated and opened during a distinguished ceremony attended by a large gathering of religious scholars, academics, influential figures, tribal elders, businesspeople, representatives of charitable organizations, and members of the local community in Herat.
The philanthropic businessman, Haji Mohammad Ibrahim Habib Yar, was also present at the ceremony. Together with the other distinguished guests, he described the opening of this important religious and cultural centre as a valuable step towards promoting Islamic values, strengthening social unity, and serving the community.
The mosque, located in the Karte area of Herat City, has been constructed across two floors and can accommodate approximately 500 worshippers at a time. The project was undertaken to provide a suitable environment for congregational prayers as well as religious, educational, and cultural programmes, while responding to the religious needs of residents in the surrounding area.
Speakers at the ceremony expressed their appreciation for the support provided by the Habib Yar Charity Foundation, describing the initiative as a notable example of social responsibility and a meaningful contribution to the development of the country’s religious infrastructure. They also emphasized the important role of mosques in strengthening social cohesion, promoting Islamic teachings, and nurturing future generations.
The Habib Yar Charity Foundation has consistently sought to make a meaningful contribution not only through its humanitarian programmes and support for vulnerable communities, but also through the construction and development of religious, educational, and public-benefit facilities. The inauguration of the Grand Mosque of Hazrat Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq (RA) represents another step in the foundation’s ongoing efforts to serve the community and establish sustainable infrastructure for future generations.
