At the opening of the ceremony, the Head of the Union of Charitable Foundations of Herat Province, Mawlawi Abdulhaq “Sediqi,” stated that the purpose of establishing the union is to foster unity among foundations, prevent duplication of efforts, and implement joint initiatives in cultural, educational, and charitable fields.
Mr. Sediqi emphasized that the union represents a source of hope for the people of Afghanistan and will serve as a reflection of the nation’s collective will.
Speaking at the event, the Head of Justice for Herat Province, Mawlawi Janan Khademi, underscored the importance of operating within the framework of the law. He described the formation of the union as an important step toward greater cohesion, coordination, and the strengthening of social and cultural activities, and expressed appreciation for the continued contributions of Herat’s charitable foundations across various sectors.
In another segment of the gathering, the representative of the Herat Provincial Office, Hamed Shayan, congratulated those involved on the establishment of the union and highlighted the significant and impactful role charitable foundations play in assisting vulnerable groups, particularly during emergency situations.
He noted that, in some instances, the timely assistance provided by these foundations has proven even more effective than that of certain foreign organizations, as aid has reached beneficiaries more quickly and without the lengthy administrative procedures and bureaucracy often associated with some institutions.
During the ceremony, a number of religious scholars, social and cultural figures from across the country, as well as representatives of charitable foundations, delivered separate remarks. They stressed the importance of unity and transparency in civil activities and described the inauguration of the union as a positive step toward improving service delivery to the community.
The Union of Charitable Foundations of Herat Province currently operates with seventeen active members, all officially licensed by the Ministry of Justice of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. The union’s mission is to support vulnerable segments of society, with a particular focus on advancing education and learning initiatives.
